Description

Kinokuniya Bekkan

Location: Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture

Welcome to Kinokuniya Bekkan. There are 2 main accommodation areas in this building complex - Kinokuniya Bekkan (annex) and Kinokuniya Honkan (original building). Kinokuniya Bekkan is a Modern Ryokan (see definition of ryokan styles below) and it first opened for business in 1715 during the Edo period. There are 10, 14, and 16 tatami mat Japanese-style guest rooms at the ryokan, and there are a total of 15 large and small shared hot spring baths throughout the premises (same gender only). Kinokuniya Bekkan also has "family baths" which means if no one is using a particular hot spring bath a family can hang up a sign outside the bath and bathe privately. There are also 2 "hanare" (private guest residences) with their own private outdoor hot spring baths. Kinokuniya Bekkan serves fresh, seasonal Japanese-style cuisine throughout the year. Check-in time is after 14:00 and check-out time is before 10:00 am. Parking is available. Important Travel Warning: It takes a long time to go through customs at Narita International Airport and then travel to Hakone. If your plane lands in the early morning at Narita International Airport, you can make it to a Hakone ryokan in time for dinner. However, if your plane arrives after 10:00 am you WILL NOT be able to make it in time for dinner. You should stay at least 1 night in Tokyo and then go to Hakone the next day.
