Description

Ryokan Sankai

Location: Nasu-Shiobara, Tochigi Prefecture

Welcome to Ryokan Sankai. This is a 3 story Modern Ryokan (see definition of ryokan styles below) with 11 Japanese style rooms all with private toilets but none with a private bath (most guests prefer to bathe in the ryokan's hot spring baths). The guest rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors (no elevators) and the shared hot spring baths are on the 1st floor. There are hot spring baths for both women and men (same gender only), and each hot spring is quite different (the "neburo" hot spring bath is very shallow and bathers lie in it; in the "kaburiyu" hot spring bath bathers are suppose to splash themselves 200 times(!): the "uchiyu" hot spring bath has a small waterfall for massaging muscles; and the "senjinoyu" hot spring bath is quite hot and bathers should only stay in the water for 2 or 3 minutes). Local, traditional Japanese-style cuisine is served in the Ryokan Sankai.
