Description

Yokichi

Location: Shirakawa-go (Ogimachi), Gifu Prefecture

Welcome to Yokichi, a thatched-roof Gassho Zukuri style of building in Shirakawa-go (see definition of ryokan styles below). Yokichi is a quaint, historical place full of character and perfect for the guest who wishes to experience traditional Japanese hospitality. Built over 110 years ago, Yokichi has been in business for the past 30 years. Yokichi has 5 Japanese-style rooms, and can accommodate up to 20 guests. It is located near the Shirokawa river valley. At night, guests can hear the sound of the river as they go to sleep. Local river fish and fresh, seasonal vegetables are served throughout the year. Guests can leave their luggage at Yokichi prior to check-in (after 15:00) and after checking out (before 9:30 am). Snow Warning: There is a lot of snow in Shirakawa-go in January and February so please bring a pair of boots. Shirakawa-go can get up to 2 meters (over 6 feet) of snow in February.
