Welcome to Karuizawa-Tsuruya Ryokan. This Traditional Ryokan (see definition of ryokan styles below) was built along the scenic Nakasendo Highway during the Edo Period (1600-1868) and has approximately 400 years of history. Also, many famous writers have stayed at Karuizawa-Tsuruya Ryokan. There are 24 rooms in total, divided among three buildings called Honkan, Bekkan and Okukan (Okukan rooms are not available in the winter), 15 are Japanese style rooms, 6 are Western style rooms and 3 are mixed Japanese-Western style rooms. Of these, 22 of the guest rooms have private baths and toilets, and 2 have a private toilets only. There are two indoor baths, open 14:00-10:00 (same gender only). Traditional Japanese cuisine is served at Karuizawa-Tsuruya Ryokan. Check-in time is after 14:00, and check-out time is before 11:00. Parking is available. Traditional Ryokan
