The city of Nagoya is the fourth
largest city in Japan. Located in the heart of central Japan,
Nagoya was originally a castle-town and visitors can still see
the famous Nagoya castle with dolphins adorning its roof. Today,
Nagoya is a modern city of high-rise buildings and highways,
and it is also a major transportation hub. There are a few interesting
attractions in the city however, such as the Tokugawa Art Museum
which houses the belongings of the powerful Tokugawa family
who once ruled Japan. There is also the Toyota Commemorative
Museum of Industry and Technology which is a tribute to Nagoya's
industrial history. Nagoya is also a good starting point to
explore such places as nearby Inuyama, a small castle town,
and Takayama, the "little Kyoto" of central Japan,
as well as the Japan Alps. |
