Tea Ceremony in a Japanese Home

This program will give you the rare opportunity to partake in a Japanese tea ceremony in a private home. Your instructor will explain about the history of tea and how to use the many utensils in a traditional tea ceremony. Your instructor will then allow you to try your hand at making tea. This is one of the best ways to experience true Japanese aesthetics and experience the culture.

Time and Prices
2 - 2.5 hours (including round trip taxi to your instructors house)

16,000 yen per person based on 1 guest
11,500 yen per person based on 2 guests or more

1. Extra charge will be required for a program outside business hours (Our business hours: 09:30-18:30)
2. Programs will be shortened if customers are late for the meeting time due to personal reasons.
3. We may have to use public transportation, depending on the location of your hotel.
4. Maximum of 9 people (Customers may be divided into several groups depending on the number)
5. Sorry but we cannot offer discounts to children
6. Other languages besides English can be arranged at an extra charge.
7. Observers will be charged a full price as well.

  1. Contact us by using our BOOK/INQUIRY Form with your preferred date(s).
  2. JGH will issue a confirmation with the date and time and answer any questions you may have.
  3. Your attendant pick you up to your hotel lobby and taken by taxi to your instructor house.
  4. You will be greeted by your instructor and given a short history of Japanese Tea Ceremony.
  5. You will enter your instructor's private tea room and will be instructed how to sit formally. You instructor will then prepare the tea.
  6. Your instructor will explain how to make tea then you will try it with your instructors support.
  7. After tea you will relax and spend some time with your instructor asking question and learning more about Japan.
  8. After tea and conversation your taxi will arrive to take you back to your hotel with your attendant.
