Odawara train station - from JR Tokyo train
station, take the JR Tokaido "Shinkansen" (Bullet Train) to JR Odawara
train station. It is a 40 minute train ride. Another route is from
Shinjuku train station in Tokyo. Take the Odakyu train line to Odawara
train station and it is about a 70 minute train ride. One advantage of
taking the Odakyu train line is the
Hakone Free Pass. The
Hakone Free Pass covers a return trip from Shinjuku train station
to Odawara train station and unlimited use of the Hakone Tozan rail
line, cable car, pirate boat on Lake Ashinoko, and most local buses
over a 3 day period. The highlight of Odawara is Odawara Castle and
guests can stay at Koshimizu Ryokan.

Hakone Yumoto train station - there are several
ways to get here. The quickest route is from JR Tokyo train station.
Take the JR Tokaido "Shinkansen" (Bullet Train) from JR Tokyo train
station to JR Odawara train station which takes about 40 minutes. From
JR Odawara train station, it is a 15 minute train ride to Hakone
Yumoto train station on the Hakone Tozan rail line. Hakone Yumoto is
the entrance to Hakone and full of stores and restaurants. Visitors
will find 7 wonderful ryokans here -
Tenseien,
Fukuzumiro,
Tachibana Ryokan, Shunkoso,
Kamon, and Yumoto Fujiya
Hotel.

Yugawara
Hot Spring - from JR Odawara train station, it is
a 20 minute train ride on the JR Tokaido rail line to JR Yugawara
train station. Yugawara is a historic hot spring resort town located
between the Izu Hakone mountains and Sagami Bay. Yugawara has quiet,
narrow streets and many picturesque ryokans and houses. Guests can
stay at Hakuunso,
Uohan,
and Sansuiro.

Moto-Hakone - from JR Odawara train station, it
is a 55 minute bus ride to Moto-Hakone. From Hakone Yumoto train
station on the Hakone Tozan rail line, it is a 40 minute bus ride to
Moto-Hakone. Located on the southern part of
Lake Ashinoko, visitors can take excursion rides on Lake Ashinoko and
there are also several sightseeing spots such as the Hakone
Check-Point, Hakone Detached Palace Garden, and the Hakone Shrine.

Ashinoyu Hot Spring - from JR Odawara train
station, it is a 51 minute bus ride to Ashinoyu Hot Spring. From
Hakone Yumoto train station on the Hakone Tozan rail line, it is a 40
minute bus ride to Ashinoyu Hot Spring. One of the original "17
Hakone Toh" (17 Renown Hakone Hot Springs), Ashinoyu Hot Spring is
located in the middle of Hakone. Two great hot spring ryokans are
Matsuzakaya Honten
and Kinokuniya
Ryokan.

Gora Hot Spring - from JR Odawara train
station, it is a 15 minute train ride to Hakone Yumoto train station.
From Hakone Yumoto train station on the Hakone Tozan rail line, it is
a 35 minute train ride to Gora train station. Gora Hot Spring is also one of the "17
Hakone Toh" and it is located at the foot of Mount Soun. It is
well-known as a high-class hot spring resort area, and in mid-August
visitors can see the "Daimonji Yaki" which is a large bonfire set on
the mountainside. Some ryokans in this area are

Fuji-Hakone
